Understanding the monastery of Saorge

• A strategic place. Saorge was a very important strategic stronghold controlling the road from Nice to Piedmont via the Tende pass. Recollect Franciscans settled here in 1633 during the Catholic Reformation. Building of the Notre-Dame-des-Miracles convent was completed in 1660.
